The Human Race is riding a runaway train to hell [aka Accelerating Climate Change] while we argue about Profits and Pronouns, about when Life legally begins, about Borders and National Identity, most of us willfully ignoring the looming doom of our species.

I'll be seventy years old in a month and a half. My goal is to outlive our cats and my wife. Then I'll be free to punch my ticket if so moved. *shrugs* Not much else I can do really...

...and so it is.

~Even though I am ostensibly Progressive – Pro-LGBT, Pro-Reproductive Rights, Pro-Marriage Equality, Pro-Labor, Pro-Income Equality, etc – I have come to despise The American Left. I'm old enough to remember when we got out into the streets and fucked things up. If the cops came at us, we went at them. We actually believed in Revolution, even if we were a little vague on its specifics.

But now the so-called Left has become a bunch of chickenshit mealy-mouthed whiners.

They've become so 'inclusive' that they don't really believe in anything.

They preach Tolerance, but cannot practice it because everything triggers them.

They rant about Cultural Appropriation when they produce absolutely no culture themselves.

They lament the political violence of the Right, yet demand we disarmed ourselves.

And they endlessly debate and parse every tiny cultural detail and political nuance to death and so render themselves fatally divided and utterly impotent.

Worse of all, they have so become thoroughly Petite Bourgeois in their world view – Everything Must Be Safe And Everyone Must Be Nice, All The Time, Everywhere – that they are now The Perfect Tools of The Corporate Confederacy, not Citizens, but Conscious Consumers.

The American Right is the same in its own way, but it has the advantage of being able to Hate without any need to 'understand' anything beyond its own mindset. That is the great power of Fascism, being allowed to openly hate that which you fear and do so without any shame.

"The truth is that this culture is insane. When Derrick asks his audiences, “Does anyone here believe that our culture will undergo a voluntary transformation to a sane and sustainable way of living?” — and he’s asked it for years, all around the country—no one says yes. That means that most people, or at least most people with a beating heart, have already done the math, added up the arrogance, sadism, stupidity, and denial, and reached the bottom line: a dead planet. Some of us carry that final sum like the weight of a corpse. For others, that conclusion turns the heart to a smoldering coal. But despair and rage have been declared unevolved and unclean, beneath the “spiritual warriors” who insist they will save the planet by “healing” themselves. How this activity will stop the release of carbon and the felling of forests is never actually explained. The answer lies vaguely between being the change we wish to see and a hundredth monkey of hope, a monkey that is frankly more Christmas pony than actual possibility.

Given that the culture of America is founded on individualism and awash in privilege, it’s no surprise that narcissism is the end result. The social upheavals of the 60s split along fault lines of responsibility and hedonism, of justice and selfishness, of sacrifice and entitlement. What we are left with is an alternative culture that offers workshops on our “scarcity consciousness,” as if poverty were a state of mind and not a structural support of capitalism. This culture leaves us ill-prepared to face the crisis of planetary biocide that greets us daily with its own grim dawn. The facts are not conducive to an open-hearted state of wonder. To confront the truth as adults, not as faux-children, requires an adult fortitude and courage, grounded in our adult responsibilities to the world. It requires those things because the situation is horrific and living with that knowledge will hurt. Meanwhile, I have been to workshops where global warming is treated as an opportunity for personal growth, and no one but me sees a problem with that." ~Deep Green Resistance: Strategy to Save the Planet Excerpt

"I'm quite certain that Catastrophic Climate Change will result in the extinction of Baseline Humans [Homo Sapiens Sapiens] aka me and thee over the next century or so, no matter what we do at this point. The Earth's surface is going to become largely uninhabitable for maybe a thousand years, give or take a century.

Our descendants, Homo Transformis [Genetically Modified/Cybernetically Augmented in various ways], will replace us, going both underground and in orbit and beyond. The Rich are already buying their bunkers and peeps like Musk, Bezos and Branson are heavily investing in space travel.

Me, I'm doing my best to enjoy my last decade or two. I have near zero hope that things will substantially improve."

I wrote the following text back on Jan. 22nd, 2013...

"Obamacare is a classic example of how a really good idea is perverted by The Corporate State. Universal Health Care in a Modern Industrial State should be a Civil Right.

Obama, who is not a Liberal but a Center/Right Corporatist, faithfully promised a Public Option throughout the entire election, yet dropped it within months of getting elected. That was via the Insurance Industry because they knew that most folks would take the PO over their bullshit polices.

Said industry also help fund the Astroturf organizations that took over the early tea Party movement, switching them from a TARP related focus to an anti-Obamacare focus, giving Obama 'political cover' to dump the Public Option.

But this also had the effect of bringing all the loons in that movement to the fore, creating the most gridlocked Congress since the 1850's.

As I have said, "I believe The Corporate State has learned The Hitler Lesson, that once a political radical grasps the levers of power, you can no longer control him with money. [It'll be a 'him' every time] That is why they ran all of the loons the GOP base favored off the road with cash early on. Mittens was always a sacrificial candidate. The Corporate State is perfectly happy with that smart accommodating black chap.""

I retrospect it seems that the real Hitler Lesson is that when y'all use Racism as a political tool to divide and suppresses the interests of The People some manner of despot will inevitable arise.

"We had a chance to put a good honest decent man in the White House, though I suppose we really never did have that chance. Be that as it may, that good honest decent man was ridiculed and brutalized and shoved aside...and now we're given the choice between The Corporate Fascist and The Overt Fascist and told 'you MUST vote for the The Corporate Fascist because “rights!!”'

Well, fuck you. Fuck all you craven mother fuckers. I'd call you sheep, but sheep are cute and your crawling moaning fear is ugly. The truth is, The Republic deserves Donald Trump for our sins, which are Legion. And I strongly suspect we're going to get him..."

Some Rube: "Trump is a smart man. Everyone hates him because he is vague, or points fingers. I'm sick of apologetic politicians, who haven't the intestinal fortitude to defend their own ideas, and just bend to what ever the loudest screamer is shouting. I for one want a strong President. And none are as strong as Trump."

Moi: "I'm a New Yorker and am rather more familiar with The Donald than you might be. All he's really done is take the various 'dog whistles' the GOP has used on the rubes for the past 48 years [since Nixon got elected] and shout them from the rooftop.

He was probably bored and got into this for the excitement. His "I could shoot someone and they'd still follow me" remarks shows that even he is surprised by his success. I doubt he really wants to be President, as much as it would feed his ego. He's been around long enough to know what an utter ratfuck the gig really is.

But hey, spud, knock yourself out. As a fellow New York asshole, I applaud his game. It's brilliant and shows what a bunch of suckers the GOP base really is, just as we New Yorkers have always believed."

"The hysterical cupidity of Anti-Gunners is presently on display with their ranting about Congress refusing to ban those on The Terror Watch List from buying guns. Not only are these people who have committed no crime, they include a lot of Left Wing political activists, people in the anti-war, environmental and racial justice movements, because the Security State considers them ‘terrorists’. There are also no small number of people who simply have the 'wrong name’ and are on the list through pure incompetence.

The Terror Watch List is a Fascistic blunt instrument. Granted the GOP didn’t vote the law down because of that. They were pandering to their base. Basically, they did the right thing for the wrong reason.

But this does reveal how essentially Fascistic the anti-gunners really are and how ignorant most people are about what really goes on with The Security State. More fear driven politics. More proof that Mass Democracy has failed."

"I confess I'm getting very tired of and annoyed at all the ranting about Syrian refugees from both sides. Clearly the Right Wing is using them to fear monger to their stupid fucking base and seriously, fuck them.

But while the 'Left/Liberals' are going on and on and fucking on about how we should show them compassion and blah blah blah fucking endlessly, I note with anger and disgust that those same people – many of whom are my friends – tend to say near fuck all about our own homeless citizens, which includes roughly 200,000 children and 50,000 Veterans, who are on our streets Right Now and many of whom will be sleeping in the cold this very night Just Outside Your Doors.

If you're making post after post about Syrian refugees and basically ignoring our own homeless fellow citizens, you're not just as bad as those hateful Right Wing scumbags. No, you're worse, because at least their shit is consistent. They openly hate everybody not like them, all the the time. You 'Left/Liberals' on the other hand are just playing at Media Driven News Cycle Compassion and seriously, fuck you, too."

"Because both the Democratic and Republican parties are largely beholden to their Corporate Pay Masters in how they vote etc, their rhetoric must reflect the essential world view of their political base in order for them to retain any type of 'legitimacy'.

For the Democratic base, that means making 'Progressive' noise about Social Justice etc, even has the party keeps on moving Rightward as it has since the defeat of Walter Mondale in 1984. Every now and then it can toss its base a political bone, like Marriage Equality, something that does not have any real effect upon the fortunes of its Corporate Pay Masters.

For the Republican base, that means making more and more 'Conservative' noise as it keeps moving Rightward to stay ahead of the cynical Democratic shift. This has led the GOP into the territory of nearly pure Fascism, with all its trappings; War Mongering, Misogyny, Racism, Nativism, Religious Extremism, etc. Their Corporate Pay Masters are either indifferent to these things or supportive of them because they help generate profit and create a favorable operating environment.

Real democracy is a very tough gig and history shows that the average human is simply not up to the task. It is therefore quite easy for The Corporate State to use its wealth and power to manipulate and divide The Electorate. That even someone as well educated as Ms Douglas is so publicly polarized proves that point.

The truly well informed equally despise both parties, knows full well how thoroughly the system is rigged and that voting is largely a sucker's game."

~I'm supposedly doing this Work to help 'save the species'? I don't even like fucking hoomons. As I have said many times, 'most humans are ignorant servile scum' and every fucking day proves that point ten dozen times over. Even those that I have respected and cared for keep turning out to be hypocrites, cowards and fools. So why the fuck have I be burdened with this fucking Her Prophet bullshit? FML

I was going to go into a whole rant about the self-absorbed cluelessness of American's White Middle Class, but then the title of this post came to mind and I decided to save my energy for other things. The first three quotes cover it nicely I believe.
